Polymer clay handbag tutorial

I was watching The Devil Wears Prada for the 9th time when the idea of a polymer clay handbag tutorial came into my had. I’m so attracted to this project that I stopped the movie to add this article. I’m not crazy, I just love what fimodiy.com has became!

Let’s learn how to make a handbag!

1. Prepare the polymer clay in 2 shades of brown (or in the color you prefer)
2. Starting from a ball of dark brown clay form a small trapezoid shape as shown in the figure.
3. Roll out the polymer clay and cut a circle the same size as the top of the base handbag.
4. Stick the circle on the bag. Be careful to position the circle a bit more to the front.
5. With the light brown form a small buckle and apply it on the front. Use a needle or  toothpick to shape it
6. Shape a brown string and glue it to the two sides closing with 2 balls of light brown.

Polymer clay gardenia tutorial

It’s not a new thing for you that I love flowers, so you will not be surprised either of today’s tutorial: polymer clay gardenia tutorial

Gardenia is a plant highly valued for its beauty. Lately I met it more often in friends’ homes but before I found this wonderful tutorial I never thought to use it in my projects. Let’s learn how to make a polymer clay gardenia hair clip.

For this project the artist used white, yellow and red polymer clay and mix them.

For the future petals of the gardenia she divided the piece into eighteen pieces: six large, 6 medium and 6 small

Further, she made a drop out of each piece of clay .

She spred out the large part of the drop whit her finger

Then gently push the upper part of the petal.

She took the first six petals ( the smaller ones) and turn them in a row at the same height and then she gathered them into a bud.

She took the next six petals and make a row above the bud

And, finally, the turn to the big petals has come! This time put the petals with the heart inside.

When the flower is done cut the extra amount of clay, bake it and add the hair clip.

Simple polymer clay flower tutorial

The next tutorial is suitable for beginners, that’s actually why I named it: simple polymer clay flower tutorial. I recommend it for the beginners in shaping with polymer clay because you don’t need any cutters, a scissor it’s just fine and I bet anyone has it!

As you have already noticed, I’m in the stage of flowers.

The article is made for cake decoration but the technique works as well with polymer clay.

For this simple polymer clay flower tutorial you will need:

polymer clay
wires
toothpick
pointy tool like a pen
scissors
optional: green and pink color or shimmer dust
stamens (you can make your self the stamens from wire)

Take the polymer clay in the color you decided and make a cone out of it. With the pointy tool or with a pen make a hole in the middle of it.Use the second picture as example.

You must lengthens edge.

For the next step take the scissor and cut 5 equal petals. Then give them a rounded shape like in the picture number five.

For the next step use a toothpick to give the petals a realistic shape.

If you don’t have dust, you can skip this step. Otherwise take a brush and spread some shiny dust on the flower

If you will use the flower for decorating something you can stop here. If you want to make a bouquet or use it in any other project that will need it to be baked my advice is to use wire to prevent it from burning. You should add stamens after baking to avoid melting.

Polymer clay flower earrings tutorial

I want to share with you this polymer clay flower earrings tutorial that I find it so appealing!

For this Polymer clay flower earrings tutorial you will need:

white, yellow, black and fuchsia polymer clay
cutter
rolling tool
earrings pin

Let’s get started!

Take the white and fuchsia polymer clay and make a gradient sheet as shown in the first 4 figures. Press it with your fingers until you obtain a cylinder.

Take the yellow polymer clay and make tree tiny sheets. Take the black piece of polymer clay and make a small cylinder. Use the sixth figure as example and adapt it to your first cylinder length.

Use a cutter to insert into the middle of the pink cylinder the yellow sheet with the black cylinder above. Use the seventh figure as example.

Make two smaller cuts, one on the left of the yellow line and one on the right and insert the remaining yellow sheets and black cylinders. You should have a cylinder like in the eighth figure.

Press the cylinder with your hands to give it an elongated shape.

Take a small piece of remaining clay, make a ball out of it and press it with your fingers. This will be the first layer of your earrings. Cut slices out of the elongated shape cylinder and add them to the base as it will be the petals of the flower. In the middle of the flower you can also use remaining clay or you can make small dots or you can add rhinestones. Bake it and the apply earring pins.

The author of this tutorial also made hair clips! You can also make bracelets, rings or pendants if you want to have a complete set of this beautiful flowers.
